Do we have enough gas?

I hate the cold.  I would much rather sweat my lips off in the Sahara desert  for a week then spend 1 hour in the freezing cold, and yet I almost always end up diving in cold water.  Go figure.   I few weeks ago one of my good friends/former Dive instructor pinged me to dive Neah Bay.  These emails usually arrive in my inbox at the busiest point of the day, and as expected, they usually require an immediate response (Diane is demanding).  So when the email arrived about diving Neah Bay on a luxurous charter, I was all in.  This is where I should mention sometimes I miss the fine print.

So a week later when I actually read the email I learned it was a friend of a friend’s boat, and accommodations would be sparse at best, and all food should be purchased BEFORE arriving in Neah Bay (something about botulism).  Too late now, I committed, no backing out.

Neah Bay for those that don’t know is on the tip of the Olympic Peninsula, so basically WTF out there.  Neah BayThe dives were most excellent.  The medieval torture of kitting up in a tiny  15 boat with 4 other divers, rolling seas, nausea (I puked once) and way too much gear was enough to send me back home the first day, but I persevered.  Once over the side, the pain and misery melted away.  The visibility was upwards of 50+ feet on some dives, and critters where everywhere.  4 Dives in all spread across some wreck site I forgot the name of (we never found the wreck), waddah island, Duncan Rock (the highlight) and the fingers.  Wolf eels, Octos and everything else under the sea were abundant.  I tried my luck at scalloping but couldn’t figure out how to pry the suckers from the rocks.  That and Diane would not wait for me.Pics have been loaded.  Enjoy.
